A traveler, college basketball player, sportsman, former businessman, and a lover of people and conversation, the artist has enjoyed a rich life. “I love a good story. That’s sort of what we do as artists. We’re telling a short story about someone and, ultimately, about ourselves.”
The University of Memphis was the artist’s formal training stage but his real education as a painter were the museums featuring the world’s great masters. “When I was traveling overseas years ago, the paintings by Hals, Rembrandt, Sargent and others started the ball in motion. I knew then that’s what I wanted to do; to reveal the likeness of a subject on canvas and, yet, to capture that indescribable something else.”
